For about half of my undergrad, I was having an affair with the professor I worked for. This man had been one of the biggest influences on my thought and education while at university — he had my utmost respect as a scholar. While still a taboo, this is the kind of subject that titillates imaginations, often causing people to gloss over the inevitable ethical confusion regarding both consent and the abuse of power. My former professor has a side to this story too, but the story that you are about to read is mine and mine alone. I got to know him the way most students get to know their professors — by taking one of his classes. It felt good to have someone to talk to who knew where I came from. I remember thinking he was funny, kind, and attractive. I felt terrible about that last one. Over the course of that semester, I would be sure to only go to his office hours when I had a questions about the class material, even though I wanted to go and chat with him more. I felt that, more than my professor, he was becoming my friend.
New species of “fish lizard”, reptile dating back to dinosaurs, discovered by McGill student
Ichthyosaures , which translates to fishing lizards, was a group of tuna-shaped reptiles that existed around million years ago. They were first discovered and studied by scientists in the early s, and several species have since been discovered, ranging from two meters long to 10 meters. The fossils were found in the Posidonia shales, an ancient Jurassic geological formation located at the axis of Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The formation of this skull did not appear to resemble any of the other specimens they were looking at.
With nearly 90 years since the most recent discovery of a Ichthyosaure species, both were shocked at their discovery. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.

MONTREAL – The Indigenous student who led the fight to convince McGill University to drop an offensive name for its men’s varsity sports teams used his speech as valedictorian to call on his fellow graduates to fight systemic discrimination. Tomas Jirousek, 22, was named valedictorian for the school’s faculty of arts, making him one of the few Indigenous students to receive the honour. While convocation was shortened and moved online due to COVID, Jirousek said he used his short speech to reference the Black Lives Matter movement and other fights against injustice.
He said that while he was thrilled to be chosen, he also felt sad to think about all the other bright students who never got the same recognition. McGill announced last year it would drop the name after a fierce debate that revealed deep divisions between students and alumni who defended the nearly century-old name, and those who opposed it. Even though the team name was originally meant to refer to team colours, an association with Indigenous people was made as early as the s, when team members were referred to using derogatory terms.

Sexual assault occurs with alarming frequency in Canada.
The prevalence of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder PTSD in assault survivors is drastically higher than the national prevalence of the disorder, which is a strong indication that the current therapies for sexual-assault-related PTSD are in need of improvement. Increasing knowledge and understanding of the pathologies associated with rape trauma in biological, psychological and sociological domains will help to develop more effective treatments for survivors.
